Last year, Victor Viray was trained by one of world leaders in trauma therapy: Professor Edna Foa, of the University of Pennsylvania. Victor travelled to the United States and completed an “intensive” training on “Prolonged Exposure Therapy” at the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety. He travelled to the Netherlands in 2016 to be further trained on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Complex Trauma and Complex PTSD at Utrecht University. This was a training program that was delivered in collaboration with Centrum45 in 2016. Foundation Centrum ’45 diagnoses and treats people with complex psychological trauma that results from persecution, war and violence (including work related violence, for example, police officers, care workers, public transport personnel; and violence inflicted during riots, kidnappings, attacks, and sexual violence/abuse).
Victor presented a scientific paper on trauma at the 15th Conference of European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, held in Odense, Denmark, in June 2017.
Victor is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker. He also has a Master of Social Work degree. He has a particular interest in working with people who experience symptoms associated with their experience of trauma.
We are extremely fortunate to have Victor living and working in Gippsland. With 25 years experience as a social worker; including 13 years in the Phillipines, and the past 12 years in Australia and New Zealand.
